Throughout the year, Florida Light Tackle Charters arranges Private Long Range Charter Trips to the distant deep blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. These trips focus on the areas commonly know as the "Middle Grounds" and the "Elbow", world famous for providing incredible catches of Grouper, Snapper, Amberjack, as well as many pelagic species, such as Tuna, Dolphin (Maui Maui) and King Mackerel.
Florida Light Tackle Charters utilizes the most tenured and best equipped in captains and long range boats. Boats range from 70 to 100 feet in length and are licensed to carry between 85 - 105 anglers. Since these are "Private" trips, Florida Light Tackle Charters only books up to 35% of the vessel's carrying capacity, providing for lots and lots of elbow room..
Trips are usually 34 hours. Eight hours out, eighteen hours of solid fishing and eight hours back to port. Trips depart from the Clearwater/St. Petersburg areas. Boats are equipped with bunks, a galley and showering facility. Rods, reels, live-bait well, live bait, frozen bait, hot meals, all the snacks & drinks one can consume and gratuity are all included. Charter prices run from $160 - $175 and are less expensive then comparable public trips, with a fraction of the anglers.
