Capt
Jimmy Hobales
is a
U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Charter Fishing Captain, South Florida Met
registered Captain, Everglades National Park Permitted Florida Fishing
Guide, Redbone Celebrity Tournament Guide and a Professional Angler on the
Redfish Tour.
Captain
Jim Hobales was born and raised in South Florida and has spent over 30 years
in or on the water. In his early years he learned to fish his home waters of
Miami's Biscayne Bay and the Florida Keys. In the early 1980's he was
introduced to Flamingo, at Everglades National Park. It was a life
changing experience.
Captain
Jim became obsessed with the fishing, in both Florida Bay as well as
Whitewater Bay in the backcountry, no matter if it was sight casting on the
flats to tailing Redfish, plugging a shoreline for Snook or casting a fly at
rolling Tarpon.
Captain
Jim earned the title of Master Angler coming up through the ranks of the
Miami Sport Fishing Club, a club that is rich in history, tradition and a
leader in conservation in South Florida. As a member in good standing for 16
years, he believes in the clubs roots and conservation measures, usually
taking them to an extreme. Being a competitive angler he has competed in
tournaments winning several events over the last ten years.
Captain
Jim is an Everglades National Park permitted guide and a Met registered
guide, the largest free tournament in the world. As a past winner, he knows
how to target the species it takes to win. Captain Jim is also well known
for Peacock Bass and was quoted in South Florida Peacock Bass by the
author Carlos Hidalgo. A world record Butterfly Peacock Bass weighing
6.7ounces was caught on fly he created. In 2001, Captain Jim started fishing
the Professional Redfish Tour. In 2002, he made the tour championship. Jim is also a
guide in the Redbone Celebrity series in the search for a cure for Cyctic
Fibrosis.
Captain
Jim's guests arrive at the fishing grounds in comfort aboard a 19 ft. Hewes
Redfisher powered by a Mercury OptiMax 175. Once there, guests can choose to
fish Spin, Plug or Fly tackle using live bait or artificial lures. Rods are
custom made by Biscayne Rods and are matched to Okuma reels and Billy Pate
fly reels.
