Light Tackle Fishing in the Gulf of Mexico

southw

NO FISH NO PAY GUARANTEE...................it's that simple!

My name is Captain Jim O'Brien and my wife of 23 years is Debbie O'Brien. I was born October 28, 1945, and my wife was born October 29, 1950.  I have been fishing the Gulf of Mexico since 1975.  I've been running charters since 1984.
I have been an Elk member for 23 years, since 1978.  I am a life member of the North American Fishing Club.  I belong to the Boca Grande Guide Association.  My wife and I fish a lot of tournaments, anything from shark, tarpon, grouper and king mackerel.
I moved to Florida from Michigan and met my wife in 1976. My dream was to get my captains license and take people fishing.  Every time I take a new group and they catch big fish, they get a smile on their faces that takes a month to take off.  That makes my day.
Most people I take out are used to catching bass and pike up north and out west.  When they land a 20-25 pound grouper, a 130-150 pound tarpon, a 450-900 pound shark, or 20-30 pound king mackeral, this is where the big smiles come from. I told my wife Debbie that I hope I can keep doing charters until I can't climb aboard my vessel.  I owe a great deal of what I do to my lovely wife. She has stood by me through the good times and the bad times.
