Capt.
Jim Ross
is a United States Coast Guard licensed captain in Rockledge, Florida.
He is a third generation native and full time fishing guide working on the
productive waters of central Florida over 250 days a year. His understanding
of the feeding habits and migratory patterns of the fish he pursues
throughout the year has made him one of the most respected fishing guides on
Florida's East Coast.
At a young age, Jim started chasing various near shore and backwater species
with light tackle and has acquired the skills and patience to land massive
fish on extremely light gear. His passion for light tackle fishing shows.
Jim has an International Game Fish Association (I.G.F.A) World Record
certificate in the Fly Fishing division to show for it. He is also heralded
as one of the pioneers credited with bringing the sport of shallow water
"sight" fishing to the grass flats of the Indian, Banana, and Mosquito
Lagoons. For the past decade Captain Jim has been teaching his clients these
techniques, creating memorable fishing adventures
whenever possible.
Because
of his knowledge and fishing expertise, Captain Jim was hired by Florida
Sportsman Magazine in 1997 as the host of a live weekly radio show covering
the fishing action on Central Florida's East Coast. The show "Florida
Sportsman Magazine Live" transmits from Melbourne Florida every Saturday
